But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. – John 1:10-11
For someone to stand in the very midst of the Creator and not recognize Him or accept Him as Lord seems incredible. Jesus made the universe, but when He entered into the world He created in human form, the very people He breathed life into turned their backs on Him. Even those who shared His bloodline and nationality refused to let Jesus enter into their hearts. What a sad state of affairs.
Many people experience rejection in life and know the pain that it causes. But no one has ever experienced rejection on the same level as Jesus. Yet we find that this is another area that Jesus can empathize with us. He knows what it is like. He understands the hurt that we feel. Even more than that, Jesus refuses to do the same thing to us that others have done to Him. Rather than rejecting us, He welcomes us with open arms. Even when we have cursed His name and walked away from Him, Jesus still cares and responds to us when we pour our hearts out to Him. What a Savior!
PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, forgive me when I have rejected You. Thank You for allowing me the privilege to approach You without fear, knowing that You accept me just as I am. Teach me to live a life that accepts others as You have accepted me.
